Session 2:  The Current State of Vaccinations will feature a panel of healthcare experts who will discuss current state of vaccination rates, barriers, and how address these challenges.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe and discuss current state of vaccination rates in Kentucky.
  • Describe and discuss barriers associated with vaccine confidence, misinformation and other considerations related to vaccine hesitancy.
  • Discuss approaches to moving past barriers and strategies for communicating with patients.

Michael Kuduk
Michael Kuduk MD

President, Kentucky Medical Association and Pediatric Hospitalist

Dr. Kuduk is originally from Northern New Jersey, but please don’t hold that against him. He went to college at the Johns Hopkins University (“the” is not just for Buckeye fans) and medical school in beautiful downtown Newark at the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He did his residency at Texas Children’s Hospital, and was in single-specialty and multi-specialty group practice for six years. In 1998, he moved to Winchester, Kentucky to open a solo practice which he operated successfully for nineteen years. He has decided to focus on medical education in the latter part of his career, and is currently employed as a pediatric hospitalist at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. He is board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric hospital medicine.

Ruth Carrico PhD DNP APRN FNP-C CIC FSHEA FNAP FAAN

Senior Consultant

Ruth Carrico PhD DNP APRN FNP-C CIC FSHEA FNAP FAAN is a senior consultant with Carrico & Ramirez, PLLC focused on infectious diseases, infection prevention and control, and vaccinology. She is also a Professor and Family Nurse Practitioner, gratis faculty, with the University of Louisville School Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases. Dr. Carrico has received training specific for healthcare epidemiology at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in conjunction with the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA).
